legal word of the day: J.D.

POL: dosł. doktor prawa
amerykański odpowiednik magistra prawa

ENG: short for Juris Doctor = Doctor of Law
a degree awarded to an individual after the successful completion of law school in the United States, Canada and Australia that entitles the holder to practise law

to ENTITLE – uprawniać, upoważniać (to give the right to)
a HOLDER – posiadacz (someone who officially own something)
to PRACTISE LAW – prowadzić praktykę prawniczą (to offer professional legal services)

(1) The Juris Doctor (JD) is a postgraduate degree. All students must already have completed a three-year bachelor degree before taking the course.

POSTGRADUATE – wyższy niż licencjat /magisterski, doktorancki lub podyplomowy/ (higher than undergraduate, higher than bachelor)

(2) Students must complete 89 credit hours in order to receive a J.D. from the University of Missouri.

STATE BAR (ASSOCIATION) – izba adwokacka (a professional body of lawyers)

(3) He is also a holder of the Juris Doctor title from Notre Dame University, Perth, WA.

(4) J.D.=Juris Doctor.   JD =Jack Daniels.  I will change my name to Jack Daniels so I can be JD, J.D.
